2022 Stonecoat Wicked Tempest x Shepherds Rest Beyaz
Stonecoat Wicked Tempest
OFA Hips: EXCELLENT
OFA Elbows: NORMAL
AKC POINTED
Shepherds Rest Beyaz: OFA prelims- Hips GOOD, Thyroid Normal (this breeding was from frozen semen that I purchased before Beyaz was exported to Australia)
Fawn pinto male. Conformationally correct, however had ectropion and underbite. Placed on limited registration and he is working large acreage in Florida.
Blue Pinto Male, this was pick male at 8 weeks of age. However, he developed severe ectropion and an underbite by 16 weeks of age, disqualifying him as a breeding dog. Owned by Ashley Clement Clark, EB FARM in Maryland. Amaranthe Requiescat In Pace At Stonecoat, “Ezio.” He is OFA Excellent like his dam, elbows and thyroid normal.
Ezio’s eyes are way too loose for the breed. While we have seen some cases of slight ectropion, this is a first for us. The dam’s side has very tight eyes for multiple generations back, so we would assume this has cropped up from the sires side. We hope they will tighten some with age.
Ezio’s underbite at a few months old. Sadly this fault, coupled with his eyes, will remove him from the gene pool, despite his wonderful OFA results. I suppose if someone was willing to take the risk, they may chose to use him in their program somewhere down the line, however a few of his littermates turned out to be much better candidates for passing along these genetics and minimizing the flaws.
Blue fawn female, she was pick female at 8 weeks. However, at 14 weeks she developed entropion in her right eye, disqualifying her as a breeding dog. She is owned by Ashley Clement Clark, EB FARM in Maryland. Ashley stated her vet injected the pups eyelid, off record, with penicillin and it corrected the issue. Amaranthe Im Not A Lady At Stonecoat, “Arya.” She is OFA hips Excellent, like her dam. OFA Elbows and thyroid normal.
Notice Arya’s right eye in both these pictures. Lower lid slightly curls inward on outside edge. There is known entropion four generations back on Dam’s side, but it is said due to the recessive nature it must be on both sides. Of course affected dogs should never be bred. This is the third time we have had entropion crop up in our program in the last 30 years.
This is Arya’s eyelid after Ashley’s vet injected it with penicillin. It’s much improved!! Wouldn’t it be great if entropion could be fixed this way?!
Fawn male, socks, no faults. He is working with poultry on the East Coast.
