I am thrilled to share my extraordinary experience with Stonecoat Anatolians and the delightful addition to my family - a beautiful female Anatolian puppy. From the moment she entered our lives, this pup has radiated intelligence, bravery, and an undeniable connection to her Anatolian heritage.

Stonecoat Anatolians has truly outdone themselves with the careful breeding and nurturing of this remarkable pup. It's evident that they prioritize not only the physical traits but also the temperament and character of their dogs. Our Anatolian puppy, a testament to their expertise, is a perfect embodiment of the breed's renowned qualities.

Watching our pup grow and develop has been an incredible journey. By the time she turned two, she had already proven herself as a guardian of the highest caliber. Her innate instincts kicked in, and she took her responsibilities seriously. I was astounded to witness her bravery and determination as she protected our property. She fearlessly took on challenges that most dogs would shy away from, including confronting and disposing of coyotes, coons, opossums, and even a fox.

What sets this experience apart is the ongoing support we've received from Stonecoat Anatolians. They've been a constant source of guidance, ensuring that we're equipped with the knowledge to provide the best possible care for our pup. It's clear that they genuinely care about the well-being of their dogs and the families they join.

Our Anatolian pup's impact on our lives cannot be overstated. She's not just a pet; she's an integral member of our family. Her loyalty, intelligence, and the way she seamlessly blends in with our household make us grateful for the day we welcomed her into our lives through Stonecoat Anatolians.

In conclusion, if you're considering adding an Anatolian Shepherd to your family, I wholeheartedly recommend Stonecoat Anatolians. Their commitment to breeding exceptional dogs is evident in every aspect of our pup's presence. With her remarkable accomplishments by the age of two, she's proven that Stonecoat Anatolians is a breeder of unparalleled quality, producing dogs that are both awe-inspiring and beloved companions.

I have known Heidi Krol since 1994. Heidi’s family commitment and deep ties to Turkey are in parallel to her passion as a true steward to Anatolian Shepherd’s Dog. Heidi practices a spare no expense COE in her breeding program, importing, researching and educating anyone who needs assistance. In addition, Heidi’s care goes way beyond her own farm in her availability towards the support of rescue.

Heidi’s pups have all been a joy to have. She was excellent about pairing us with the right temperament for the needs of our farm, property and predator loads.

We have since moved to a larger property and the dogs adjusted beautifully. They are poultry, goat, cattle and pig safe and most transition from one type of stock to another quite eagerly.

Heidi is super responsive to us and has always been a vital resource as we learned the ropes of training and working with the Anatolians.

We had a litter from our 3 year old bitch that we co owned and bred with Heidi and she raised the pups and they are every bit as lovely as the other three dogs we bought directly from her, so we are up to five Anatolians that are all out of her lines and were whelped by her. We wouldn’t get an Anatolian elsewhere, we know that if anything ever comes up she stands behind her dogs and is available to offer help with training, advice, concerns, etc.

Three of our five Anatolians were poultry and pig safe by 4 months old, the other two by a year old. While some enjoy being with the goats over the other stock, and one enjoys being with the pigs over the goats, they all guard each species successfully and with intensity.

I’m very happy with them and with Heidi’s willingness to teach and be there for us when needed.

In the three short years I’ve known Heidi Krol, her guidance, support, mentorship, generosity and integrity led us to Westminster with my under two year old (Stonecoat) bitch. I think that achievement speaks for itself. Better yet, Heidi turned to me and said, “you deserve it.” That is true sportsmanship.

We have known Heidi Krol since 2014. She has always shown her main aim is fighting for preserving Anatolian Shepherd’s Dog’s working ability. This is extremely important. She has shown compassion for the breed by rescuing dogs. She has taken on an enormous amount of work trying to educate potential owners and up and coming judges on the breed. The breed absolutely needs an advocate like Heidi to represent the breed for its future interests.

Heidi is one of the most ethical and honest people I have known, both personally and as an ASD breeder. She is always striving to preserve and improve the traits we treasure in our dogs. Heidi’s natural leadership skills, willingness to help others and extensive knowledge of the breed make her an asset.

What a difference 8 months makes! This is our big boy Tim, an Anatolian Shepherd produced by Heidi Krol at Stonecoat Farm Anatolians.

I want to brag on her a little bit. Heidi is a very knowledgeable, experienced breeder of working LGD’s that are also show quality animals that adhere to the breed standard. Preservation of this beautiful, strong breed is her passion, and she is very good at it.

Tim and Orchard are our first LGD’s that we own and use for their purpose, which is to guard our goats. We were inexperienced but willing to learn how to raise our two puppies the right way. Despite our shortcomings, Heidi has always been so helpful and ready to give advice on how to teach our puppies to be good guardians. Her dogs are so well-bred and raised that they come knowing what to do so it was as smooth a transition as it could possibly be.

We are so glad we chose Stonecoat for our Anatolians!

Heidi has been a wonderful mentor to me coming into the world of well-bred, purebred dogs. Her love, passion and effort that she pours into this breed and her program, speaks for itself.

As a complete novice, never having stepped foot in the show ring, Heidi has let me tag along to shows and even thrown me on the end of the lead of one of her magnificent working dogs. They have all had wonderful correct temperaments and stable minds. Being easy to handle and I even took a Best of Breed with one of them.

Heidi has been a wealth of knowledge, not only on this lovely breed, but also in showing, raising, and breeding dogs. I couldn’t be more grateful for all she has taught me.

I wanted to share an observation of my new pup from Stonecoat Farm Anatolians.

I have Bo, a 6 mth old 60+ lb anatolian of which I purchased from Heidi at Stonecoat. Here was a pup that was 6 mths in on a farm he was born on… traveled from NH to MD, was introduced to a farm unknown and existing dogs already established here, new routines, new perimeters, new environment, and a new boss of the property and had to learn new commands, new restrictions, and a whole new way of life moving forward. That is alot for a pup! What we depend on as a buyer investing our money, time, and efforts is to hope we picked not only the right seller/breeder, but also that they suggest/choose the right personality/traits of the dog THEY think will flourish here. I wanted Heidi to choose, I wanted her to know my situation and what I needed from the dog and her to find that match.

I got Bo about 2 wks ago, very reserved ..as was expected due to the massive change. I gave him his space and an area to call his own and make himself comfortable… no pressure, no commands, no expectations… i wanted him to adapt, hear the normal sounds around here, the patterns of my day, and developed a routine for the next 5 days. A slow introduction to my German Shepherd who thought he was fine by himself and didn’t need a partner, therefore hated Bo on his initial introduction. I placed no pressure on either… it was new to both of them and I depended on stable minds of both to figure things out… still seperated and both given the time to think it through while kenneling side by side. Then finally the introduction to the GS was done…it was a process that I honestly think the owner needs to be sure they can handle, a bad introduction can lead to not only bad behavior but a dog fight you may not be able to control… confidence not only in yourself but the dog/s being confident in you and your role really makes the difference… take the time, evaluate, and move slow… it isn’t a race, its your future and theirs as well.

I want to commend Heidi on the stable mind of her dogs… you can actually see him thinking things out… and my GS has confidence through me so I have earned his respect to move slowly and trust my introductions. I trust Bo will be there also at some point. He is loving, willing to please me even if it takes him 10 times to get it right, his patience is incredible! His sense of protection is already in full swing at such a young age. Very alert and learned quickly the norm around here and what is not normal of which he turns on his protective mode. He watches the sky and already has his pattern to patrol down. Just impressive and I am extremely pleased. I know its a long post …but this is my new protection on the property, my new buddy in life that I need to build a lifelong bond with, I need to trust him and he needs to trust me… an effort on his part I feel I needed to write about our journey and also recognize the amazing breeder behind him… for without an amazing upbringing I am sure things would not go as well. Thank you Heidi, your efforts, time, training, patience, and expertise definitely reflect in your dogs.

Since buying my first Stonecoat Anatolian nearly 8 years ago, Heidi has always been kind and understanding, and offered endless support. From navigating national specialties and breeding, to coming to various shows and trials to support us, to keeping in touch all night through an emergency vet visit, she has never wavered in her support and I could not be more grateful.

My first Anatolian from Heidi is a wonderful, sweet, confident dog. She is polite and friendly off property and when introduced to guests, and a determined guardian of our property and small dogs the rest of the time. Her structure is solid and sound, earning her an award of merit at her first national specialty, and her AKC grand championship.

My second Stonecoat Anatolian is just as sweet, confident, and dear to me as the first. She loves her birds and defends them with great care. Structurally she is stunning, and though I have not been able to show her much due to my own schedule, I am certain she will do well in the ring! She is a goofball at home and in public, as is her older sister, and has a sense of humor that makes her a joy to be around!

In the years I have known Heidi, I have also had the chance to work with many of her dogs- from helping to aptitude test and stack babies prior to them heading to new homes, to older puppies and adults who were at shows. They are consistently proud, powerful, well tempered working dogs. If you are looking for a serious livestock guardian who has the genetics and temperament true to the breed and their job, as well as having sound, solid structure, I will always recommend Stonecoat Farm.

One of the best decisions I ever made for my farm was to buy a puppy from Stonecoat Farm Anatolians. I spent hours looking for Guardians that could improve upon the guardians we already had. I looked at so many AKC breeders and non-AKC breeders. None of the dogs I saw impressed me in structure or temperament.

While browsing a dog group I happened upon a photo of “Puck” that Heidi had shared. I looked through her website and facebook page and saw beautiful examples of well built working dogs. Dogs that were not only impressive in their working environment but also impressive in a show ring.
Heidi was helpful and supportive through all of our interactions. She shipped me our male, Puckster and then a few years later our female, Raya arrived. Since that time Puckster has sired two gorgeous litters of puppies for us. He’s working full time with cows, goats, chickens and pigs. Raya isn’t quite a year yet and she’s 100% trustworthy with every animal on our farm, baby animals and poultry too.
It takes years of experience breeding these dogs to produce what Heidi has on her farm. The two dogs I own speak for themselves and are a true testament to what Stonecoat Farm produces. I appreciate the knowledge that Heidi has and her willingness to answer any questions I have. It’s obvious that she cherishes the breed she works so hard to preserve.

We purchased our first Anatolian from Heidi in 2000. We have since purchased seven more from her program over the last 23 years. We run 500+ head of sheep for a large scale meat operation in the north country. Heidi’s dogs have been VERY consistent in temperament and working ability, taking to the stock immediately upon their arrival. They do extremely well in the harsh winters we have. We have suffered zero losses to predators since we started using her dogs in our program. We first met Heidi at a big Ag event where she was speaking on how to farm using Anatolian Shepherds. We were impressed with her knowledge and her dogs that attended the event. We’ve been hooked ever since. We are not on social media and depend on the agricultural community to sustain and grow our business. We were thankful fellow ranchers and farmers told us to attend her workshop, they also employ Stonecoat dogs and knew we were having trouble with wolves. Stonecoat dogs have made it possible for us to continue what we do and sleep at night knowing the animals are safe. We look forward to employing our ninth Stonecoat dog in 2024.

My husband and I decided a couple years ago that he would be retiring early and we would be traveling the country together. Once we decided that, we knew we needed a dog that would be an excellent protector, but we also wanted an excellent companion as well. We began researching, for almost 2 years, and decided on the Anatolian Shepherd. We searched many different breeders and reached out to a couple, but most were not willing to let them be anything but a livestock guardian dog. Then one day we came upon Stonecoat Farm.  After meeting Heidi multiple times and having multiple conversations, we brought home the most amazing boy ever. Heidi talked and talked about her passion and love for these dogs. She told us many stories from over the years and through all of it what we heard was, “ I love these dogs like they are my children.”

She was very selective on what dog would be a good fit for us, and let me tell you, he has been perfect. There is so much breed quality in this boy. His natural instincts are exactly what you would expect from Anatolian Shepherd, yet he is kind, affectionate, patient and careful with every living being he comes across. We have experienced his phases in warning to what might be a predator and each one comes to him, naturally, as if he had been taught how to do these things. From day one, no matter what questions or concerns that I have had, Heidi has quickly and honestly replied. She answers every question and on the chance that she doesn’t have 100% answer, she gets it, but that I think happened one time ever. She knows her stuff, she knows this breed as if she was Anatolian her self. I could go on and on, but to sum this all up, going to Heidi is one of the best decisions we’ve ever made.
